Coastguard Canterbury 2019 Awards Night
At Coastguard Canterbury we hold our Annual Awards Night to appreciate the hard-working volunteers for their time and effort over the year. This year we were hosted by Trenches Bar & Restaurant on 74 Armagh Street.
Carolyn took home the Red Cross Award for looking out for the crew and having everyone’s best interests at heart, through offering support, organising catering or just generally looking after our crew. Thanks to BP for donating a fuel voucher.
Kirsty received the Ultimate Savings Award for her dedication in savings to the unit, minimal wear and tear on the Vessel and seamless reporting. Thanks again to BP for donating a fuel voucher.
Dan was awarded the Leadership Award as our Unit President and for stepping up and providing the Unit with great leadership. Thanks to Burnsco Christchurch for donating a voucher for this award.
Paddy was voted as Skipper of the Year by the crew for providing leadership, keeping us safe on the water and assisting with crew training. Thank you New World Durham Street for donating a voucher for Paddy.
Kirsty also took home the Operational Crew Member of the Year as voted for by the Operations Team. Kirsty continuously goes the extra mile, turns up at callouts whenever possible and is always available for her Duty Day.
Hayley was voted by the Operations Team as the Inductee of the Year. After only joining the Unit in April the commitment and hard work she has put into her training has not gone unnoticed. Thanks to BP for donating a fuel voucher for this award.
Hayley also took home the new trophy donated by Fab Plastics for the highest attendance on our Tuesday night training sessions, with almost a 100% attendance rate.
Kirsty came in with a trifecta for the most callouts attended over the last year, she was also given a trophy donated by Fab Plastics; keep up the good work Kirsty.
Dan also received the CRC Award for keeping our Vessel maintained to a high standard and ensuring that it is always on standby and ready to attend callouts and training days.
Kirsty was also voted the crew member who has shown integrity, dedication and service to Coastguard Canterbury and was presented the Steele Award by Jerry one of our dedicated life members.
Jamie was awarded the Fundraising Award, as voted for by the crew for the member in the Unit who has committed his time and efforts in organising fundraising activities and raising funds over the last year. This award was donated by The Riches Brothers in 2012.
Richard was voted for the Good on ya Mate Award by the crew for demonstrating the Unit values; professionalism, respect, integrity, honor, camaraderie, accountability, openness and cooperation. Thanks to Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa for donating a voucher for this award.
Hayley was the Skippers Choice this year and was awarded the Skippers Choice Award, the skippers choice award goes to acknowledge the crew member who, in the eyes of the Skippers, has demonstrated a positive attitude, enthusiasm and integrity and is a valued member of the team.
The team leaders were also given vouchers thanks to The Coffee Club for their hard work and effort over the last year. Thanks Quentin, Andrew, Holly, Vanessa and Hayley for organising duty days and ensuring crew members progress through their training.
Our other Skippers, Nick, Scott and Rachel, also received vouchers from The Good Home Wigram and the Coffee Club for their work as Skippers and behind the scenes over the last 12 months.
